Mound Dock and Commons Program
The City of Mound operates a very unique program—the Mound Docks and Commons Program. It is the largest municipally owned dock program in Minnesota, giving permits to 630+ boats annually on Lake Minnetonka.
Mound, MN Commons
From 1906-1921, the developers of Mound created linear accessways, or Commons, on the shores as they platted new subdivisions. They wanted the public to be access and enjoy Lake Minnetonka, not just those whose property was on the lake.
Now, hundreds of people that don't own lakeshore can keep their boat on Lake Minnetonka.
